District Attorney Dan Dow is the elected public prosecutor for the County of San Luis Obispo. “Our Mission is to
bring justice and safety to our community by aggressively and fairly prosecuting crime and protecting the rights of crime victims.”
San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow was seeking a rebrand for his office, complete with a new seal. The District Attorney’s Office had long been using the historic San Luis Obispo County seal. However, they yearned for updated brand design that would accurately reflect their identity apart from the SLO County seal. They envisioned versatile imagery that would serve many functions. Key words in this project were “judicial, formal, official, simple yet detailed.” The golden building displayed in the center of the seal is the iconic San Luis Obispo courthouse. San Luis Obispo became an official county in 1850, and the script style phrase “Veritas et Justitia” is Latin for “Truth and Justice.” Upon completion of the updated brand identity, their new logo has been integrated across all mediums like press releases, internal memorandums, letterhead, and displayed across their digital platforms.
